Abstract

Due to the spatial changes that the urban space has undergone, over time and among different patterns of expansion, the city brings up new and untraditional manifestations. One of these manifestations, a relatively recent process of urbanization, has become important: horizontal condominiums, private real state enterprise that associate well being (wellness), leisure, status and safety. The main purpose of this research project is to continue the study about these horizontal condominiums in the state of São Paulo (cities in the countryside of the state), so that these new urban configurations can be interpreted and investigated - in particular, related to its public and private spaces. The focus will be primarily to the city of Piracicaba, but the study will be articulated to other works related to other cities: São Carlos, Araraquara, Ribeirão Preto and São José do Rio Preto.
