Abstract

In general words, a modal analysis of a structure is a set of techniques that allows to determine their Eigen frequencies and their natural Eigen modes. This is a topic with great importance to several fields of engineering and has practical applications in bridges, foundations, cables and others structures. The objective of this Undergraduate Project is the implementation of a numerical tool to carry out the modal analysis of structures by using some methods available in the literature. To validate these tools, it is proposed to run, via commercial codes, models using the Finite Element Method of some simplified structures. The results from the commercial codes will be compared with those obtained from the numerical tools.
