Abstract

The ability to listen and understand information in noisy environments is an important listening skill. In the school context, where is commonly observed sum of noise in the classroom, children with difficulty in separating the message from the noise can occur interference with the academic skills them, central auditory ability of background figure, especially those students who has difficulty in school. Thus, the present work aims to evaluate the auditory speech perception with and without competitive noise in normal-hearing children with school difficulties, using the HINT test Brazil. The study is descriptive and cross-sectional. We will estimate to evaluate children with school difficulties and 60 without difficulty, male and female, schoolchildren, 8 to 10-year-old, native speakers of Brazilian Portuguese who has at the moment previous the application of HINT test, tonal hearing thresholds within normal and good understanding of instructions and legal guardians sign a statement of informed consent form. Data will be analyzed statistically. We hope that this study aggregates knowledge about central auditory abilities to recognize speech in the noise in children with school difficulties, with perspectives of development of projects for the prevention of hearing disorders and stimulation of auditory skills in the school environment.
