Abstract

The fire safety is a science which aims to protect life and property. It is a matter that should be involved in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of building. However, in Brazil, the technical means have little knowledge in this area, making it difficult to follow the rules and laws, being the scientific environment contribute to society to disseminate this topic. Scientific research in the area of "Structures Engineering in Fire" studying the fire resistance of structural members determining the ability to support a fully developed fire. This research project aims to enter undergraduate students on the topic of experimental tests at high temperatures, seeking to promote the training of researchers specialized in the subject, as well as disseminating the topic in the scientific community, boosting the area in the Brazil. The focus of this project is experimental analysis of structures in fire by means of doctoral projects which will be conducted in a horizontal furnace, obtained by a Thematic Project FAPESP Nº. 2006/06742-5. At the end of the project the student will have knowledge of the whole process of analyzing experimental at high temperatures, which involves planning of tests, instrumentation of the specimens and analysis of results.
