Abstract

Rehabilitation in the posterior maxilla are usually confronted with alveolar bone atrophy associated with pneumatization of the maxillary sinus, precluding the installation os dental implants. The sinus lift surgery was introduced in literature in 1980 by James & Boyne, to allow the installation of dental implants in this region, with a few modifications since that result in different rates of survival and complications. The purpose of this retrospective study is investigate the survival rate of osseointegrated dental implants placed in areas where the sinus lift surgery was performed in the Oral and Maxillo Facial Surgery area of the Piracicaba Dental School Faculty - Campinas State University in period 2002 to 2012.
