Abstract

There is a large class of fluid-structure interaction problems that lead to self-excited oscillations. Commonly, it is of interest of engineering the knowledge of the fundamentals of such phenomena aiming at the suppression of such kind of oscillation. On the other hand, some research groups around the world have been putting effort on investigations focusing on energy harvesting. Renewable and clean energy, such as that extracted from flow-induced vibrations, is a current topic with a marked interest of the modern society. The objective of this research project is to carry out a literature review on energy harvesting and to design an apparatus to extract energy from a particular flow-induced vibration phenomenon, chosen after the literature review.
