Abstract

This study will evaluate the biomechanical behavior of Mandibular Overdentures retained by implants (regular, mini implants, varying implant/abutment connection and attachments), through photoelasticity and 3D finite element method (FEM), under load. Experimental models of Mandibular Overdentures prepared to photoelasticity will be modeled and inserted into the computer to FEM analysis, in the situations: 1) 2 regular implants in the region of lower canines, attachment O'Ring/external hexagon connection-HE; 2) Likewise, internal hexagon connection-HI; 3) Likewise, morse taper connection-CM; 4) 2 regular implants, attachment Equator/HE connection 5) Likewise, HI connection; 6) Likewise, CM connection; 7) 01 regular implant in the median region, O'Ring / HE connection; 8) Likewise, HI connection; 9) Likewise, CM connection; 10) Likewise, Equator/ HE connection; 11) Likewise, HI connection; 12) Likewise, CM connection; 13) 2 mini implants / O'ring in the region of lower canines; and 14) 01 mini implant /O-ring in median region. For both analyzes, axial loads (100N) will be applied in the central region of first left and right molars and between central incisors. The results will be analyzed and compared with appropriate statistical analysis, in order to verify agreement or disagreement of patterns of distribution and /or quantitative stress values obtained for each technique.
