Abstract

The aim of this study is evaluate the stiffness of the splenic parenchyma of healthy dogs by ARFI (Acoustic Radiation Force Impulse) elastography determining the qualitative and quantitative standards (shear velocity) have not been described in veterinary. The animals will be divided in three groups to the specie studied of according to their age Group 1 = healthy young (20 animals) - three months to one year of age; Group 2 = healthy adults (20 animals) - one to five years of age; and Group 3 = senile healthy (20 animals) - five to ten years. After conducting preliminary examinations and checked the healthiness of the animals these will be submitted to the examination and conventional ultrasound and elastography (ARFI quantitative and qualitative) of the spleen tissue (in different anatomical regions) using the ACUSON S2000/SIEMEN ultrasound and specific software. The completely randomized experimental design is being used and a significance level of 5% for all tests. (AU)
