Abstract

This project aims to investigate the trajectory, intellectual production and the activities of Ruy Coelho (1920-1990) during his stay abroad (1945 /52), in the light of two related investigative fronts. Firstly, from the apprehension of circulation and exchange of researchers, ideas, institutional arrangements and agreements and assembly of academic and professional networks involving Brazil, the USA and France. From this point of view, his experience will be taken as a reference point to circumscribe a broader discussion: the complex dynamics of circulation of scientific theories and practices between academic contexts, government agencies and projects linking the metropolitan centers of research and "peripheries". Secondly, and linked to the previous goal, my attention turns to the survey of fieldwork research conducted by the author in Honduras and its results, seeking to qualify, on one hand, its central analytical categories, persecuted challenges, influences received, privileged interlocutors and attended readings and, on another hand, to reflect about the impact of Coelho's personal and intellectual experience in his country of origin, also considering the north-american agenda of research in the period.
