Abstract

This research will be composed of two sequential experiments conducted in Botucatu, São Paulo State, Brazil. The aim will be to validate an integrated crop-livestock system to production of corn silage, aiming at finishing lambs in feedlot. The experimental design of the first experiment will be a randomized block, with 24 replications, being two modes of corn cultivation for silage: in intercrop with palisade grass and in intercrop with palisade grass and pigeon pea cultivar BRS Mandarim, harvested at 0.45 m in relation to soil surface, and grains with 35% moisture. The experimental design of the second experiment will be a completely randomized, with eight replications (three lambs by pen), being utilized the two silages produced in the first experiment for the diets formulation of feedlot. We will evaluate the fraction of the corn plants, the forage yield and the chemical composition of silage, and performance, carcass characteristics and economic viability of lambs finishing in feedlot. The results will be submitted to ANAVA by F test and means compared by LSD test (pd0.05).
