Abstract

This project is proposed to study the effect of different strength exercises (resistence training) for the same muscle group, this being biarticular, aiming to verify the impact of exercise on markers of muscle cell injury. The difference will be the position of the segment, so the arm can be left in a position of greater flexion or abduction, resulting in a greater stretching of the brachial triceps long head (eg French triceps exercise). Sample is composed of 20 healthy men (aged 18-30 years), and college students with a minimum of six months experience in strength training. The subjects will be randomized into the crossover design (cross-over), the same individual will perform both strength exercises. Strength exercises will be carried out unilaterally. The training will be based on concentric and eccentric muscle actions, five sets of about 11 repetitions maximum (RM), two seconds for each eccentric contraction and a second for concentric contraction. Collections will be made for the pre; and after the exercise session (immediately, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours). Delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), enzymatic activity of creatine kinase (CK), muscle circumference, stretching, maximal isometric strength: for the verification of markers of muscle damage following measures will be undertaken. Will also be measured electromyographic activity and blood lactate.
