Abstract The use of experimental procedures for the conception of materiality had an important role over the years related to understanding and solving several issues involving the architectural design. As pedagogical practice, these processes are still valid and are heavily explored in the international context, including the adoption of models and prototypes in the development of innovations to the technical-construction segment. Based on a preliminary research it was observed that this practice is little explored by Brazilian Architecture schools, and although relevant, most of the examples found are still modest and incipient. Inserted in this discussion, this research project aims to study the experimental spaces deployed in public Architecture and Urbanism schools in the country in order to understand its implementation process according to the particularities arising from different contexts. The relevance of this research derives from both theoretical and practical contributions. It happens initially as a way of increasing studies on the importance of adopting processes through experimental models and prototypes in the academic context, given the scarcity of work done on the subject, especially with regard to the adoption of these tools to study issues involving the materiality of the project. In practice, the characterization of the activities performed in these study sites will enable to examine the main bottlenecks that lead to the observed discrepancy between the national and international context, creating subsidies for the development of didactic, economic, cultural and political guidelines that promote implementations with the necessary technical support and enhance the existing practices. This research will be conducted through literature and documentary research, interviews and technical visits. (AU) | |
