Abstract

Since the process of modernization triggered between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries that culminated in the emergence of large urban centers, the city presents itself as seductive literary object. This occurs because, considering not only the architectural changes elapsed in that period, but also the changes caused in those people who lived in the large cities - changes in political, social and economic order - the large modern cities represented an environment that presented countless paradoxes by configuring your ambivalent character. These were cities, in the midst of great progress, but notably marked by contradictions, which were found in the literature of the time. In this sense, this project aims to confront the anti-pastoral city singing inaugurated by Charles Baudelaire in the nineteenth century in the Le Spleen de Paris, which in the early twentieth century had been transplanted in the city of São Paulo through the ironic-critical view of Mário de Andrade in his Pauliceia desvairada and, finally, reconfigured and updated by contemporary authors. With a view to their inclusion in a new political, social and ecological reality, will be analyzed the work Não verás país nenhum, of Ignacio de Loyola Brandão, published in 1981, in order to discuss and to problematize the way the author stands in relation to the city of São Paulo of the late 70s and early 80s with the aim to understand how negative aspects present in the metropolis, the same that were previously represented by modern authors, this time transplanted in the literature by an extrapolated form, configure a dystopian genre of text and help in creating of a hypothetical apocalyptic urban center.
