Abstract

The small sentence Come back, Lula! (Volta, Lula, in the original), came in April 28, 2013 through the speach of Republic Party's leader, Bernardo Santana de Vasconcellos, (PR - ¬MG) at the Chamber of Deputies, and since its irruption has been present in the most varieties of text and enunciators that enroll on discursives distincts positionings. On that day, Vasconcellos announced the support of 20 of the 32 members of his party to replace Dilma for Lula in the presidential race. A quick search on Google, for example, shows 6920000 occurrences of the enunciation Come back, Lula! It's possible to notice that this theme, although quite relevant to both studies of communication and political Science and the Sciences of Language, is understudied, especially in the Brazilian academic area. Our initial concern in this research is to understand what makes Come back, Lula! a kind of discursive pandemia (verbal and iconic) with almost seven millions of occurrences. Based on the Krieg Planque's studies (2003, 2008, 2010, and 2012) about the discursives formulas, and on Maingueneau's (2007, 2010a; 2010b, 2011, and 2012) about the sentences without text, we are going to search the discursive-linguistic properties of the enunciation Come back, Lula!, and some of its iconics variations, like Come back, Lula, and bring back the R$ 10, 6 billion you lent to Eike Batista! Furthermore, we intent to describe the co-text and the contexts through which this enunciation and some of its iconic variants circulate inside the Brazilian digital media space, more focused on the newspapers Folha de S. Paulo e Estado de S. Paulo ¬ (Estadão) and some websites specialized in politics ¬ between April and August 2014 - ¬ the period before the elections -¬ and, after that, the conjunctural reasons (political, social, historical) that enabled the emergence of such enunciation.
