| Associated scholarship(s): | 15/18901-0 - German economic thought in Brazil (1889-1945): collecting the sources in Germany, BE.EP.DR |
Abstract This project deals with the diffusion of a German tradition of economic thought in Brazil, between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. The process of international diffusion of ideas is emphasized. The research proposal refers to the economic ideas of Brazilian personalities who were active between 1889 and 1945, such as Rui Barbosa, the nationalist-authoritarian intellectuals of the First Republic (especially Francisco Campos), the Germany-oriented members of the Vargas administration and Roberto Simonsen. The investigation will highlight the influences of the German tradition, which was related to the German Historical School of economics, amidst the ideas of the Brazilian thinkers mentioned above.
