Abstract

The theory of Embodied Cognition postulates that semantic knowledge is anchored in the input/output modality-specific systems and thus their representation relates to neural substrates of action. The aim of this study is to investigate the processing of verbs in patients with Parkinson's disease and controls according to criteria of semantic specificity. For this 30 patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) without dementia and 30 healthy participants will be investigated, with similar age, sex, handedness, education and socioeconomic level. Participants will be assessed by scales of cognitive assessment battery of language, mood and computerized tests of lexical decision and semantic judgment. Stimuli of the computerized tests were delineated according criterion of specificity (Likert Scale), respecting psycholinguistic parameters of frequency, length and familiarity. The data will be statistically analyzed, with a significance level of 5%. (AU)
