Abstract

The territory as a category of geographic analysis has by its nature the relations marked by the power. In the Brazilian agrarian framework that relationship is historically the concentration of land, expropriation of rural workers, and environmental damage. This is the case of Ribeirão Preto - SP, where the sugarcane sector holds much of the land for use of agribusiness. Thus, the main concern of the present work is to analyze the territorial changes that are happening in the Settlement of Land Reform "Mario Lago", located in the countryside of Ribeirão Preto - SP, with regard to the Project Revival of Water from Guarani Aquifer which aims to implement the Agroforestry System (SAF), a model that follows over the current agro-industrial logic These changes seek to return the autonomy of small farmers and the appreciation of their work, combining food production to environmental preservation, which comprises a power fight and stands firm towards the agrarian hegemony in the region.
