Abstract

Given the major development of cities in the state of São Paulo, some areas are left behind without its original cover, allowing erosive processes to initiate and become potential risks to the surrounding population. In fact, there is a need for knowledge and adequate monitoring of areas considered as static, but undergo constant change by weathering. The project uses different methods of terrain analysis to calculate soil loss by erosion in an area with removed native vegetation in city of Jundiaí-SP, using the collection of GPS points and altimeter data, digital elevation models, as well as stakes inserted in the ground as an approach to monitor the erosion evolution process, as an attempt to estimate the soil loss within one year period. Also a soil particle size analysis for understanding the natural erosive susceptibility will be done. Through GIS softwares, the data will be interpreted with the generation of Thematic Maps and Digital Elevation Models. (AU)
