Abstract

This scientific initiation is part of the ongoing project called "Atmospheric Boundary Layer Wind Tunnels. Research in Architecture and Urbanism and potential applications in other areas of knowledge" with duration between September 2013 and September 2016, approved in the Call Extension and Improvement of Infrastructure to Research of Incentive Program Research - INFRA-USP, from 2012 to 2013, Group B, to support the creation of multi-user instrumentation centers and core facilities. The project is coordinated by professor Dr. Denise Duarte and, with the resources released are being purchased instruments and supplies for research in the wind tunnel ever built in FAU in partnership with LABAUT, Environmental Comfort Laboratory and Energy Efficiency, and LAME, Model and Testing Laboratory. The object of this research is the calibration of the atmospheric boundary layer wind tunnel of FAU. The main goal is to calibrate the wind tunnel with the characterization of the flow in the test chamber and the experimental determination of the load loss along the same in order to improve it for conducting further tests. The proposed method includes the bibliographic and normative survey, the characterization of the tunnel through different experiments and the application of strategies to refine the operation of the equipment, aiming to increase the accuracy of tests. As endpoint will be used pre-established criteria and extracted from normative references, such as ANSI / ASHRAE Standard 55-2013, AMCA Standard 203-90 and Eurocode.
