The project has as an initial objective the analysis of some pieces in books V and VI from Bartok's Mikrokosmos, in order to get familiar to the contrapuntal mechanisms developed by the composer, and highlight his social expression in his time. This first objective shall constitute the necessary material for further study of works with greater shape, as the string quartets, the Sonata for two pianos and percussion and the Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta, where he develops such ideias in a more aligned way to musical overall needs of larger structures. Considering the project to be inserted within the activities from the course of composition in the music department of USP, it is also in its objective the application of the conceptual and technical aspects in the compositional writing of a work of larger size, with respect to both duration and instrumental group. With this project it is intended to broaden the candidate's musical knowledge about the musical architecture, as well as his composition skills, with regard to the articulation of several distinct elements simultaneously, i.e., when it refers to a new kind of counterpoint in music nowadays.
