Abstract

The Lambari-da-Mata-Atlântica, Deuterodon iguape, is a native fish with prospective for aquaculture. This specie has been commercialized in small markets in coastal cities of São Paulo. Nevertheless, environmental conflicts related to the use of the rural properties, usually located around of the State Park of Serra do Mar, act as bottlenecks to lambari's aquaculture and required the development of sustainable practices to fish production in this region. In this way, this project aims measure environmental sustainability of Deuterodon iguape production in land based ponds in order to promote sustainable practices in the coastal region of São Paulo. We will perform an experimental culture in four land based ponds located on Municipal Fish Farming of Peruibe. Environmental sustainability will be measured based on three main aspects: use of natural resources, efficiency in use of resources and release of pollutants in the environment. Sediment, water and gas will be analyzed to calculate environmental index. Nitrogen, phosphorous, total solids in suspension, organic carbon and green-house effect gases (CO2, CH4 and NxO) will be measured. (AU)
