Abstract

This research project focuses specifically on the ice impact and interlaminar fracture toughness experiments of thermoplastic, thermoset and metal-fiber laminates used in aerospace application, evolving a composite Brazilian team from São Paulo State University (UNESP) and a team from University of California San Diego (UCSD). During this work, the composite specimens will be processed using a hot compression molding machine in Brazil, and the mechanical characterization will be performed at UCSD. This project intends to initiate a scientific collaboration between these two Universities in order to develop new techniques for produce composite laminates applied to aerospace technologies and increase the mobility of students and researchers between these groups.
