Abstract This research project aims the study of fire safety in places of public assembly and as a case study, the fire at the Kiss nightclub in the city of Santa Maria (RS). The study will be in two stages, the first being on a review and analysis of regulations on the subject. The second stage would be an analysis of existing data on the case of fire at the Kiss nightclub considering the architectural conditions and the behavior of occupants in the specific emergency situation.
