Abstract

Efficient and inexpensive conversion of solar energy into a form of storable and transportable energy is a major objective of the present society. The photoelectrochemical water splitting into H2 and O2 has stood out on the world stage as a promising solution as these can be produced in an environmentally friendly way. Several investigations have been carried out to develop this process. However, the efficient photocatalytic semiconductor production of these gases is of great scientific interest because they have to provide high efficiency photocatalytic with low cost and wide stability to photocorrosion. In this project is proposed the development of photoanode of WO3/CNTs nanocomposites by a synthetic route to only one step in order to obtain photocurrent nanostructures with high capacity and low recombination of electron/hole pairs. The materials obtained are characterized by different instrumental techniques, for example: Spectroscopy UV-Vis region, Scanning Electron Microscopy, X-ray Diffraction and cyclic voltammetry. Studies of cyclic voltammetry in the presence and absence of light will be conducted to assess the possibility of using these nanocomposites in water splitting.
