Abstract

The writer Julio Ramón Ribeyro was one of the most recognized chroniclers of the urban reality of Peru in the last century. More than portray the cities that he used to write about, the author operates from his memory a recreation effect of those cities within the fictional universe while maintaining recognizable references, giving each of these cities another symbolic place that is full of new meanings. This project aims to study the mechanisms involved in this effect of juxtaposition between real and imaginary in the brief narratives of Ribeyro, supported on the concept of heterotopia, used by Foucault, and the premises of Literary Theory and Discourse Analysis.
