Abstract

This project is inserted in the research line "Health care of women in the life cycle" of the Nursing Department (DEnf) of the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). The researches related to this line aim to understand women; their health in different situations experienced in the life cycle, incorporating the reproductive period and out of this; and their social, political and cultural interactions. The theoretical foundations of the research line are based on humanization, gender, safe motherhood, reproductive rights, health promotion and on the integrality of care. The research project aims to analyze the contents on violence against women, published by the Brazilian media in magazines and national newspapers. This is a documentary, exploratory and descriptive research, with a qualitative approach. Data collection will be accomplished through the identification of related content to the topic of violence against women, published in 2015, in three magazines destined to the female audience, in one magazine destined for general population and in two newspapers, all of national circulation. To achieve this purpose, all printed magazines and newspapers will be read in full and content related to violence against women will be identified through the exact term or its derivatives. The criteria for choosing the magazines and newspapers were based on the object of study and in their audience. The thematic content analysis will be used for analysis. As this is not a research involving human subjects, the project will not be submitted to the Research Ethics Committee.
