Abstract

In-situ chemical oxidation is a technology increasingly being used for remediation of contaminated sited with DNAPLs in Brazil. However, remediation efficiency depends on the behavior and reactions of the oxidant solution in the soil, which controls the time and extension of oxidant contact with the contaminant. In this study, the behavior of oxidizing solutions in typical Brazilian tropical soils contaminated by DNAPLs will be evaluated in two-dimensional tests, and will be sought alternatives to maximize remediation efficiency.
