Abstract

Intensive Care Units (ICU) are characterized to assist pacientes usually very graves, with potentially reversible Clinical Tables, but that require uninterrupted and specialized care. The reported mortality in ICU varies Between 5.4% to 33 %, with average rate of Stay 5-10 days. Several factors are described as Associated with mortality during one hospitalization in the ICU world, highlighting age, severity of disease at admission, need for mechanical ventilation, one infection occurred and stay time in ICU. The ICU Infection prevalence can affect 46% A 60 % of patients, depending patients characteristics. In general, the infections are the leading cause of death in ICU no cardiac and contribute to 40 % the costs of these hospitalizations. Objective: to describe the mortality profile global in patients in ICU-B General Marilia Clinical Hospital; compare the infection rate among the patients that died in more than 24 hours of hospitalization with those who survived; evaluate the contribution of values do SAPS -II in Mortality of Patients. Methodology: During the period one year will be one prospective cohort study with nested case control, where all the patients admitted to the ICU for more than 24 hours will be accompanied since your internment until 7 days after ICU discharged . Patients evolve to the death will be compared with those who survive during hospitalization in the ICU. Will be held Data Collection through standardized instrument, including Demographics, reason hospitalization, measure gravity by SAP- II, infection and evolution of occurrence.
