Abstract

The project aims to study the documentary work of American filmmaker Errol Morris, which covers the period from 1978 to the present day. Specifically will be performed analyzes of the documentaries The Thin Blue Line, Mr. Death: The Rise and Fall of Fred A. Leuchter Jr, The Fog of War, and The Unknown Known. From the relationship between cinema, politics and society, we aim in this study to understand how the filmmaker Errol Morris, from their characters, investigates, denounces and promotes discussions about social and political problems presented in American society. In parallel, we seek to understand what influence these documentaries have on American society, taking into account the issues of staging and ethics in the filmic construction. (AU)
