Abstract

The infectious diseases of small animals are a major challenge to the veterinarian clinic. The Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, Feline Leukemia Virus and Canine Distemper Virus (FIV, FeLV and CDV) are important virus that determine systemic infectious disease with high morbidity and dissemination. The nanotechnology/biotechnology has enabled the development of gold nanoparticles (AuNP`s) that have been applied in many areas of medicine. The properties of biomolecules AuNP`s as biomolecules adsorption, absorbance of surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy in the visible light and changing the light refractive, enable the development of an excellent technology for diagnostic tests since the colloids are visible in the "naked eye". Therefore, the aim of this study is to develop and standardize new rapid diagnostic methods of FIV, FeLV and CDV using nanotechnology of gold nanoparticles (AuNP`s) bioconjugadas for the detection of antibodies or viral antigens, as the methodology developed by our research group. Therefore, recombinant proteins of FIV and FeLV in vitro will be synthesized. The synthetic protein p24 / FIV TM will be coupled to AuNP`s, whereas FeLV p27 protein wil be produced, used to polyclonal antibodies yield and anti-FeLV antibodies will be conjugated to AuNP`s. To canine distemper virus detection, the anti-CDV polyclonal chicken produced in a previous experiment will be coupled to the AuNP`s. The samples will be tested and methods compared to "gold standard" techniques. (AU)
