Bioimpedance reliability analysis in the evaluation of secondary lymphedema treatment of breast cancer

Abstract

Lymphedema is the most common morbidity after treatment of breast cancer. The bioimpedance has been used to estimate the composition of the upper limb by electrical impedance. Therefore, the aim of this study is to evaluate the reliability intra and inter bioimpedance in determining the upper limb volume in women with secondary lymphedema treatment of breast cancer. In addition, associations are found between bioimpedance and perimetry. Will be included in thirty volunteer study with secondary lymphedema treatment of breast cancer, aged between 35 and 59 years. Will be held the volumes of the upper limbs through the perimeter and bioimpedance. For this two examiners previously trained and familiar with the use of bioimpedance measurements take place in the same volunteers in two stages, with one week interval between them. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC2,1) will be used to determine the intra and inter reliability, with its respective confidence interval of 95%, standard error of measurement and minimum detectable change.
