Abstract

The interference of weeds in sugarcane is a key factor for the crop productivity and quality, highlighting that the importance of itchgrass (Rottboellia exaltata) has been growing on the last years. In order to manage these plants, the knowledge of the sugarcane's interference periods enables a better placement of herbicides with residual action. In this work three experiments will be carry out. In the first one the densities of R. exaltata that interfere with sugarcane are determined, and the phenological stage at which the interference is predominant. In the second one the selectivity of the indaziflam herbicide will be evaluated in two varieties of sugarcane. In the third, the previous to interference and critical interference prevention periods of R. exaltata in sugarcane and the residual period of the indaziflam herbicide for control of this weed will be determined in field.
