Abstract

In the development of the majority of solid cancers in different species, some cells can detach from the primary tumor and acquire the ability to invade the extracellular membrane, dispersing through the blood vessels and/or lymphatic vessels and can colonize other tissues. This process is known as metastasis and is responsible for 90% of all deaths by cancer. The occurrence of metastasis is due to several factors not yet completely understood. The EMT is referred as one of the predisposing factors for the occurrence of metastasis by facilitating the remodeling of tissues and giving the cells the ability to invade and colonize new tissues. Because of their relation to the EMT, will be assessed in this project the expression of miRNA let-7 and the genes Lin28a and Lin28b through real time PCR and Western Blot, in 4 strains of mammary neoplasms in female dogs. Gene expression of Lin28a/b and miRNA let-7 will be related to the morphology and the biomarkers expression of a culture of isolated cells.
