Abstract

This is a prospective and intervention project with early childhood professionals (teachers and caregivers) of the public network of a country town of São Paulo. That aims to describe the knowledge of these professionals about the characteristics of children with ASD (autism spectrum disorder) and instrumentalize them regarding this subject. To contemplate this goal will be, initially, applied a questionnaire to describe which previous knowledge that these professionals have on the subject. Based on this questionnaire and it data, will be made a three meetings training in order to equip professionals about the disorder characteristics and premature identification of ASD signs. Immediately after the training, the participants will answer a reduced version of the questionnaire, in order to compare whether the knowledge on the subject have changed. Four months after the training, the follow-up evaluation will be conducted to evaluate the efficacy of the intervention. The data analysis procedures will be a categorization of responses from participants in the three moments of the questionnaire application, the categories will be based on the literature and on the frequency of the participant answers.
