Abstract

Rice is one of the most consumed grain in the world, being in first place in the Brazilian diet , having high nutritional value. In the Ribeira Valley, SP region long ago rice farming was the main economic source, however with the coming of banana and peach palm crop, rice was losing ground. This project will evaluate the upland rice crop behavior when subjected to a subdoses management of paraquat herbicide with different modes of applications in different development stages of culture in an attempt to, if possible, find in which these modalities occurs hormesis effect on plants, and this effect expressed in plant development, SPAD readings chlorophyll, polyphenols, lodging and grain yield in the Vale do Ribeira, Registro city, São Paulo State, Brazil. The lack of information about cropping strategies to permit adequate plant development combined with possible production winnings make such studies of great importance for the region's producers.
