Abstract

The inappropriate and indiscriminate sugarcane vinasse disposal in soil and water resources received much attention in recent decades because of environmental problems that this practice causes. Disposal in waters is prohibited for several years, but the indiscriminate use in soils can lead to contamination of water resources, either by leaching and / or percolation. Since several developed studies demonstrated the toxicity of vinasse on aquatic organisms, it is part of the objectives of the Thematic Project investigate the toxic potential of vinasse after percolation tests; in this sense , this project aims to investigate the toxicity of the leachate and the vinasse sugarcane in tilapia liver , using the histopathological analysis and stress protein immunostaining ( HSP70 ) .
