Abstract The B chromosomes occur in about 15% of eukaryotic species, being primarily composed of repeated DNAs and heterochromatin. Some studies have been performed analysis of distribution, frequency, inheritance mechanisms, structure and origin of these chromosomes. Recently, large scale genomic analysis have been used to elucidate questions about the supernumerary chromosomes. Cichlid fishes are very interesting models in science, since many species have undergone rapid and extensive process of adaptive radiation. In some species of these group, as Astatotilapia latifasciata, it was described the presence of B chromosomes. Our objective is to characterize the profile of protein expression in specific tissues using A. latifasciata as a model. The methodology consists in using the liquid chromatography high performance coupled with mass spectrometry (LC-MS / MS) to conduct a functional analysis of B chromosome presence, elucidating its influence in specific metabolic pathways. Furthermore, we will integrate these data with the RNA Seq results using biological networks, enabling a better understanding of the influence of B chromosome presence in cell. (AU) | |
