Abstract Bombyx mori, known as silkworm, belong to the order Lepidoptera and is used in sericicola industry. His silk cocoon is used in the production of various fabrics. This branch of the Brazilian agribusiness, the sericulture, operating on small farms, providing means of subsistence to producers, as well as having a low impact on the environment, it is not necessary the use of pesticides on properties. But the use of insecticides in neighboring cultures the mulberry plantations, food B. mori, can influence the sericulture, causing imbalance in insect metabolic functions, compromising the commercial production of cocoon and silk losses productive chain. It stands out among these insecticides the Novaluron, inhibitor of chitin synthesis in insects, used in insect control pest next crop the mulberry plantations. In order to evaluate the effect of Novaluron in B. mori, mulberry leaves will be treated with median lethal concentration (LC50) for evaluate the effect of Novaluron intake in the midgut, reproductive organs and glands of silk of the B. mori caterpillars, reproductive organs of pupae and adults, and yet its effects on development, reproduction and quality of produced cocoon. Given the lack of information on the effect of Novaluron in B. mori and sprays reports of neighboring plants the mulberry trees would entail damage to the insect, it appears the need for research development on its effects on silkworm, which is very important for sericulture.
