Abstract

This study aim to evaluate the zoonotic potential of the canine population in the Southern of São Paulo, for it will be used the dog as a sentinel event to investigate the occurrence of leptospirosis and risk factors associated with disease. The study will be conducted during surgical sterilization campaigns in areas covered Supervision of Health Surveillance of Parelheiros and Surveillance Supervision on Health of Socorro Chapel, located in the extreme south of São Paulo. The diagnosis of leptospirosis will be held by the technique of microscopic agglutination test, using as antigens a collection of 24 Leptospira spp. Animal owners, answered a questionnaire to outline an epidemiological profile of the population and carry out statistical analysis of risk factors.
