Abstract

Currently we pass thru an expansion of places at full-time school due to the National Plan of Education that provides the offer of this extended journey to half of the students enrolled in public school system until 2020. This directive requires great efforts and resources that should come from the reflection about the purpose of fulltime school. Among the various proposals for fulltime education under construction on the Brazilian states and cities, many lack of clear guidelines and theoretical assumptions for the preparation of its curriculum. Regardless of the historical moment, the pedagogical approach or political intentions, the proposals for fulltime education in Brazil generally includes knowledge of Physical Education, often as a way of expanding journey of the student. Assuming that the component of the curriculum is being transformed through dialogue with the school's social function, this study intends to analyze its characteristics in public fulltime schools in São Paulo city. The methodology adopted unify the documentary analysis and the study of case of ethnographic type based on the significance of the material collected through observation, analysis of educational documents and interviews with managers, teachers and students.
