Abstract

Analyzing data from the aerogeophysical survey "Projeto 1080 - Área 2 Mato Grosso", realized by Serviço Geológico do Brasil (CPRM), a magnetic anomaly, clearly shows up. The anomaly is centered at the coordinates (311200 E, 8316300 N), near to the municipality of Jauru - MT. Its source is an underground, hereby called Jauru. The Jauru anomaly is located at the region of the Figueira Branca Siute, which is geologically described by basement gneisses from the Alto Jauru Group, intruded by gabbros, amphibolites and serpentinite. Gabbros and notites are the most common rocks, with mafic and ultramafic mineral deposits. According to CPRM, the Mato Grosso state stands out in Brazilian mineral production. Área 2 survey is located entirely in its central West region and has several gold and copper occurrences, besites diamond production related kimberlites. In order to study the anomaly, magnetic data, provided by CPRM and ground surveyed gravity data, acquired by the Lithosphere Geophysics lab of IAG-USP. Through processing and interpretation of the data, this work intends to characterize the body which is the source of the anomaly.
