Abstract

The combination of the soil's organic and mineral particles generates the aggregation responsible for aeration, infiltration and retention of water and nutrients essential for plant development. The present paper will be carried out in order to evaluate soil aggregation and organic carbon content of an clayey Oxisol with located and reduced tillage systems for the cultivation of sugarcane. There will be in the experimental design large and uniform installments, with two treatments (tillage systems). Each system will be divided into 10 plots where the soil sampling will be carried out. The treatments will be two tillage systems: located (subsoiling only the planting row) and reduced (subsoiling the total area). Soil sampling will be conducted onto two layers (0-10 and 10-20 cm) after planting the sugarcane. Deformed samples will be collected in the rows and in between the rows. In each of the sampling sites 20 subsamples are collected to form a composite sample. Therefore there will be 80 composite samples (2 tillage systems X 10 plots X 2 installments sampling locations X 2 layers) for obtaining soil aggregate stability index and the total organic carbon content. Samples will be collected with deformed structure in rows and in between the rows. In each of the sampling sites,3 subsamples are collected to form a composite sample. Therefore there will be 80 composite samples to determine the average diameter soil aggregates. An analysis of variance of the data obtained and the averages will be compared by Tukey test at 5% significance will be carried out.
