Abstract

The deep soil preparation in the planting zone with traffic control has been adopted in the sugarcane field, and questions about the target area, depth soil preparation, and the liming appropriate are common with these changes. In addition to the response in terms of productivity and longevity of the sugarcane field, it is fundamental to understand the impacts of these changes on the environment, as this technique can lead to a reduction in carbon stock (C) and an increase in greenhouse gases (GHG) emission. Evaluations with the time effect need to be performed to define the most sustainable soil preparation, as well as the adequacy of the dose of limestone in sugarcane. The aim of this work is to evaluate the effect of soil preparation systems and the differentiated dose of limestone in relation to the emission of greenhouse gases; the stock and carbon balance; the fractionation of organic matter from the soil and the stalk yield after each harvest. The experiment was carried out using an alternate spacing of 1.4 x 0.5 m in an Ultisol with medium texture, in a randomized block design with a split-plot with four replications. The plots consist of two soil preparation systems (Conventional and Deep Strip) and the subplots by two doses of limestone (0 and 2 times the dose recommended by Spironello et al., 1996, based on the samples of soil layers 0.0-0.20 and 0.20-0.40 m).
