Abstract

The use of natural products and their analogues have occurred since primordial times, being wide applicability as clinical use drugs. However, the search for new natural products has inherent obstacles to be overcome, such as the possible small amounts produced by the organism and the isolation of compounds already known. Within this context, search and optimization to new strategies for obtaining new molecules and its analogues are fundamental, increasing the possibility of new prototypes for drugs discovery. The precursor-directed biosynthesis (BDP) has proved to be an efficient approach, and easy to perform, in order to obtain new compounds or analogues by supplementation of culture medium with unnatural biosynthetic precursors. The aim of this project is the optimization of pentaciclic oxindole alkaloids production through precursor-directed biosynthesis using in vitro Uncaria guianensis. The pentaciclic oxindole alkaloids from Uncaria guianensis are very important because they have a wide range of biological activities, especially anti-inflammatory and anti-tumoral.
