Abstract

This research intends to comprehend the integration of Dutch immigrants in the real state of São Paulo City. For this purpose, we intend to analyze the Dona Rosa row houses, located inside Santana Neighborhood, constructed between 1952 and 1954. The main question is to understand why the Dutch immigrant Dirk Berkhout decided to construct the row houses, and, in addition how the Lei do Inquilinato, enacted in 1942 impacted the private Market of housing in São Paulo. We would like, also, to comprehend the Berkhout relations with the Dutch community resident in Brazil, and, the possible residents in its first years, until today.
