Abstract

This study aims to understand and discuss Peace Communications theories, as well as investigate Brazilian and international non-governmental organizations' work in context of conflicts. To this end, we are going to investigate the Peace Studies, analyzing Peace Journalism specifically, and how NGOs adopt it as a tool which enables a peace culture development. Besides the survey of relevant literature and descriptive and exploratory research, which allow analysis and interpretation of Communications and Peace Journalism NGO's performance, we will perform in-depth interviews with these organizations activists, which will be interpreted critically and systemically. This study will encourage thoughts on ways in which Communications professionals can be peace builders and spread a peace culture.
