Abstract

Nephrolithiasis is one of the most important renal diseases, being a part of general physicians and specialists' daily practice. The physiopathology is multifactorial, and one of the risk factors, which increase the prevalence of the disease, is the high level of calcium in blood and urine. Primary hyperparathyroidism is a dysfunction of mineral metabolic defined by excessive secretion of PTH, a hormone produced in parathyroid glands that promotes an increase in serum and urinary calcium levels. Thus, one of the clinical manifestations of PHPT is nephrolithiasis, with a expressive relation between both diseases. The only definitive treatment for PTP is the surgical removal of afected parathyroid glands, named parathyreoidectomy. In this present study, we will analyze the demographic profile of the population with nephrolithiasis and PHPT from the Urologic Department of University of São Paulo Medical School. At the same time, we will correlate the metabolic profile with image exams of that population and disease severity. Finally, we will examine the impact of PTX in risk metabolic.
