Abstract

Considering that 1) muscle lipid accumulation and inflammation are key events in determining insulin resistance (IR), 2) exercise induces improvements in IR, and 3) hypercholesterolemic LDL receptor knockout (LDLr-/-) mice show no IR improvements after exercise training (unpublished data from our lab), we will investigate the exercise response of high fat diet fed wild type and LDLr-/- mice regarding: 1) muscle lipid content, 2) macrophage content and phenotype and 3) insulin signaling efficiency.
