Abstract

Cardiopulmonary fitness impairment in DM patients has been associated with limited tissue oxygenation. Phototherapy is a resource largely utilized to threat several disorders due to expected light-tissue interaction. This type of therapy may be interesting to improve muscular oxygenation, therefore increasing aerobic fitness and functional capacity. Prof. Richard Hughson has wide experience in kinetics analysis and interpretation of the near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) data. During the internship period, the student will learn about the methods to analyze the pulmonary oxygen uptake and NIRS data collected in order to define the best method for data analysis. This internship could improve the interpretation of the experimental data.
