Abstract

Dental bleaching has the ability to cause damage in the enamel and dentin, and the pulp cells due to the presence of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Remineralizing agents having fosfopeptídio casein and amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP), as MI Paste Plus, has been used to minimize changes in hardness and roughness of enamel after bleaching procedure. However, these studies did not examine whether there beneficial effects on pulp tissue. Objective: To investigate the effects of remineralizing MI Paste Plus (CPP-ACP), on the pulp tissue of whitened Wistar rat molars. Methods: 30 rats will be divided into 6 groups of 10 hemi-jaws each, as follows: Group Control- not receive any treatment; Cla- group will receive 30' the whitening gel H2O2 35%; Cla}Rem- group receives H2O2 35%, followed by an application 30' MI Paste Plus; Group Rem}Cla- receive MI Paste Plus, followed by H2O2 35%; Rem}Cla}Rem- Group MI Paste Plus before and after H2O2 35%; Group CLA+Rem receive 30' of the a mixture of 35% H2O2 with MI Paste Plus. After 2 and 30 days, the animals will be euthanized and the jaws removed and processed for histological evaluation (HE). Analysis method: The tissue sections stained with HE will be evaluated by predetermined criteria by assigning scores to microscopic events. Statistical tests will be performed Kruskall Wallis and Dunn (p<0.05).
